Sarah M. Sernell, CPA
Senior Manager
Sarah is a native of Johnstown and a 2006 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting. She began her public accounting career in July 2006 with Dennis P. Kotzan, CPA.
Sarah has passed the Certified Public Accountant exam and has met the experience and ethical requirements for CPA licensing.
Sarah is a manager in both the tax and audit functions at Kotzan CPA. She has developed extensive experience in individual and corporate taxation. Sarah further specializes in accounting and auditing for governmental entities, non-profit organizations, and construction contractors. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Carolyn S. Musselman, CPA
Senior Manager
Originally from the Bedford area, Carolyn graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology. After working for a number of years in the education field, she returned to her hometown of Bedford and, in 2002, enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown to pursue a career in public accounting.
Carolyn has passed the Certified Public Accountant exam and has met the experience and ethical requirements for CPA licensing.
Carolyn began her public accounting career in August 2003 with Dennis P. Kotzan, CPA. Carolyn remained with the firm for four years and returned to Kotzan CPA & Associates, P.C. in July 2010. Carolyn is an audit manager at Kotzan CPA, specializing in governmental and non-profit accounting and auditing. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Adam J. Gerycz, CPA

Adam is a native of Colver, PA, and a 2002 graduate of The Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accountancy. After years of working in the railroad industry, Adam returned to school, earning a Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Mount Aloysius College.
Adam completed graduate school in 2013 and began working for Kotzan, CPA & Associates in January of 2014.
Adam has passed the Certified Public Accountant exam and has met the experience and ethical requirements for CPA licensing. Adam is an audit manager at Kotzan CPA, specializing in accounting and auditing for governmental entities and employee benefit plans. Vanessa L. Gary

Vanessa is a native of Somerset and a 2008 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting. She began her public accounting career in July 2008 with Kotzan CPA & Associates, P.C.
Vanessa is a senior accountant at Kotzan CPA serving in both the audit and tax functions. While she has developed extensive experience in individual taxation, Vanessa specializes in accounting and auditing for governmental entities and non-profit organizations.
Jason M. Pierce, CPA
Senior Accountant
Jason is a native of Sidman, PA and a 2013 graduate from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business, with a dual concentration in Accounting and Finance. Jason subsequently earned his CPA license and joined the firm of Kotzan CPA & Associates, P.C. in February 2016.
Jason specializes in individual and corporate taxation, as well as accounting and taxation for non-profit organizations. His skills also expand into attestation work, with extensive experience in financial statement preparations, compilations, and reviews.
Jason is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Carrie L. Myers, CPA
Senior Accountant
Carrie is a native of Ebensburg, PA and a 1992 graduate of Cambria Rowe Business College with an Associate Degree in Business Administration Management. After years of working in the private sector, which included working in the business office of an educational service agency for 13 years, Carrie returned to school earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in both Accounting and Organizational Leadership in 2005 from Saint Francis University. She subsequently earned her CPA license and worked for the Department of Revenue as a sales and use tax Revenue Field Auditor. Carrie continued her career with a CPA firm in Altoona, PA where, over the next 10 years she gained valuable experience in taxation and audits of non-profit organizations and nonpublic entities.
Carrie joined the team of Kotzan CPA & Associates in May 2022. She is a Senior Accountant serving in both the audit and tax functions specializing in individual taxation and accounting and auditing for non-profit organizations, governmental entities, and employee benefit plans. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Evan J. Kundrod
Staff Accountant
Evan is a native of the Johnstown area and a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Financial Accounting. After his internship experience with Kotzan CPA & Associates during 2021, he began working full-time, upon graduation, in May of 2022.
Evan is a staff accountant at Kotzan CPA and works with audits of government and nonprofit entities as well as taxation on an individual level. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and is currently pursuing his professional certification in public accounting.
